Product pricing is an essential factor that can determine the success of your products and services in the market. Pricing products correctly is so critical that it can skyrocket your sales and popularize your brand. Do you need to price your products but wonder if you are going too high or low? Understand the difference between the two to know which works when:

high and low product pricing

People indeed associate quality products with high prices. But if you price your product too high, only a few people may buy it. While pricing the same product too low might result in losses. There is no one-size-fits-all formula for pricing! Before we decode how product pricing is done, we need to understand what product pricing means.

What is pricing?

Product pricing is setting prices for products and services to help you meet your goals and make a profit. There are many factors to consider when setting the right price for your products. This blog will discuss 7 easy tips to ensure your product pricing is just right.

product pricing

7 Pro tips for pricing your products correctly

1. Define the business goals your pricing should achieve

Before you start pricing your products, it is important to define business goals aligned with your brand’s overall mission and vision. Do you want to increase your market share? Do you want to increase customer loyalty or maximize your profits? The goals you choose will determine the pricing strategies you use for your products.

2. Include all costs efficiently

When you consider pricing, include all the costs associated with producing and selling your product. This consists of the cost of materials, labor, storage, transportation, marketing, and more.

Ask yourself:

  • Have I considered discounts or deals I can get from my suppliers?
  • Did I include post-sales costs such as customer service in my pricing?
  • Or any tax incentives and other benefits I can take advantage of?
  • Is it just breaking even or adding to your profits as well?

Imagine this. Leena sells jewelry for Rs. 100, making it at a loss of Rs. 10. If Leena sells the jewelry for more than Rs. 110, she will make that much more profit.

Pro tip: Fill in all the costs in an Excel sheet, so you don’t miss out on anything and can easily see the gross revenue you need to generate.

Here is a hypothetical example of the product pricing of a t-shirt:

3. Understand your customers’ budget

Conduct market research to find out –

  • who your target audience is
  • how much they pay for similar products
  • what the perceived value of your product is

The better you know your customers, the more value you can provide them. You can tweak the pricing according to your customers’ location, use cases, purchasing capacity, etc. It is good to ask customers for feedback to understand their needs and determine the right product pricing and development strategy.

4. Study your competitors’ pricing

You can also look at the prices of similar products. This will help you set competitive prices that are attractive to your customers and align with industry standards. See if your product offers any additional value or if there is an uneven supply-demand ratio. Also, pay attention to any special offers or discounts your competitors offer. This can help you determine if you should offer similar discounts or promotions to stay competitive.

5. Apply psychological tactics to pricing

Use psychological cues, like the power of suggestion, to influence customer behavior. For example, offering a product at $5.99 and another at $6. Customers will most probably buy the one that is priced at $5.99. You can also provide offers and discounts whenever possible to attract more customers.

6. Use different product pricing methods

You can use many product pricing methods to offer your products and services. Here are two examples that are very easily actionable:

a) Tiered Pricing

Tiered pricing involves setting different prices for different levels of product features. For example, you could offer a basic version of your product at a lower price and an upgraded version at a higher price. This allows customers to choose the version that best suits their needs and budget. Service providers like software companies and travel agencies typically use a tiered pricing method.

b) Bundled Pricing

Bundled pricing involves offering several products together at a discounted rate. One classic example of this is ordering combo meals at leading fast-food joints. This gives customers more value for their money and encourages them to make larger purchases.

7. Keep your pricing flexible

You can even keep your pricing flexible to quickly adjust your prices to changing market conditions. For example, if your competitors are offering discounts or promotions, you should be able to adjust your prices to remain competitive. You should also be able to adjust your prices to take advantage of any seasonal trends or changes in customer demand. Measure your sales performance and customer satisfaction to figure out what works best.

Set the right prices for your offerings and earn more

Remember, the product pricing process may look different for all. Focus on finding the right balance between earning profits and providing value for money. More importantly, pricing is a continual process. You may need to revise your prices with changing times.

If the pricing strategy works well and buyers start flocking to your stores, you may need some help to streamline all your payments and settlements. That’s where PayU can come in. With 150+ payment modes and plenty of useful payment solutions, PayU can help you provide the best checkout experience.

Since its inception, PayU has always thrived to inculcate openness, integrity, ownership, courage, and collaboration in its vibrant and close-knit work culture. Be it full-time employees or interns, India’s leading payment gateway has always encouraged innovation and transparency amidst its workforce. Lydia Priyadarshini, a terrific and a powerpack PayUneer, is a woman with strong opinions and a great example of these core values: Ownership and Integrity. Here’s her fun-filled journey at PayU cherished with wisdom and great experiences.

From Lydia’s desk…..

The Beginning

Being new in a fast and massive city like Mumbai is truly a very exhilarating task. In late 2017, when I settled down in Mumbai after my marriage, I couldn’t imagine that I would work with India’s leading payment gateway “PayUmoney”! Soon, I started following the traditional job hunt suite: apply to multiple offices and then zero down on the places I really want to work for and with. PayUmoney was on my “zeroed down” list and I got a call from there enquiring if I was interested in Marketing. I was happy but the only thing I was concerned about was distance. Yes, Mumbai is a city of dreams and achievements but distance too! Mapping my workplace from my house correctly and sifting carefully through the crowd was a task initially. But I guess I pulled it off well as a new Mumbaikar and PayUneer 😉

The Selection Process

As the days progressed and after a couple of rounds of interviews, I was handed my appointment letter as PayUmoney Content Marketing Executive. The interviews were intense but seemed like an easy flow with questions ranging from “why I moved to Mumbai?” to “What I have done in the past and would like to handle in the future?” and so on.

Work Mode On! 😎

I was very happy and excited to see my new workplace for the very first time, it was bright and open in all direction I could stretch my sight to. “Nice!” is what I commented. It gave me a sense of new learnings, creativity, friendships and much more.

I met my senior and he walked me through the entire Fintech industry (as I am a newbie here), through PayUmoney, it’s functions and most importantly my detailed role in the marketing team. Content rather inbound marketing is a vast and most crucial leg in any business. My first assignment was to transform a complex product description into a simple and comprehended one. After multiple reiterations, it was finally completed. I really got to learn a lot in the process. Eventually, slowly and steadily I got a hang of how things work and most importantly what works. Thanks to all my teammates and seniors.

Gradually, my skills to produce quality content sharpened and I bagged multiple projects which included writing crisp and actionable emailers, product pages, FAQs and more. But the one piece of work I’ll always cherish is my first blog ever on PayUmoney: How To Accept Payments Using UPI Payment Gateway. I actually gave my all to this blog: creativity, SEO techniques and learnings, co-ordination and so on. My hard work paid off in the form of my blog ranking on the first-page of search engines.

A New Big Project

“We are creating superb content. But writing content is not enough. Distributing it will work for us!” – One of my senior.

My next project after learning SEO and writing B2B content was distributing it. I volunteered to learn something new and my seniors supported me throughout. It was a fantastic learning experience to understand people’s viewing and surfing habits, choice of topics on particular days, best times they view content on different channels and so many more drilled down factors of consumer behavior! In the beginning, we would distribute every day but the numbers didn’t show up. Distribution is a consistent process and requires patience for the numbers to show up. Finally, the mantra worked! OUr numbers started rolling up, and my efforts paid off! I really enjoyed putting up our repurposed content in the form of PPTs, videos, infographics and other forms of content on some channels mentioned below:

Even though I had no experience prior to many things I did at PayU, I was entrusted with greater responsibilities, which in turn enabled me to give my very best in whatever I did. One thing I really loved doing as a PayUneer was brainstorming. This was the act where all sorts of ideas were accepted (irrespective of how basic, obvious, excellent or illogical they sound), broken down and judged in terms of consequences.

First Offsite Adventure Ever ✈️

“In PayU, the mantra is work hard and party even harder!”

Our SMB team offsite to Bhutan for 3 days was the most memorable memory because:

  1. It was my first ever offsite
  2. I met the entire big fat team from different locations for the first time!

The serene beauty of Bhutan was extremely enchanting and the bunch of people I was hanging around were super fun and enthusiastic. We visited many places, Tiger’s Nest was the showstopper though. A clam monastery 3000ft above the valley was Paro was worth the 5 hour trek!

PayU, My Second Home

My overall experience at PayU was very positive and enriching in terms of the knowledge I acquired. Its more like a startup environ where people are buzzing with ideas and laughter. A light-hearted place where everyone from the highest authorities to the supporting staff everyone is treated equally. This is the place where I found my first and close set of friends in Mumbai – my colleagues, who strengthened me all the more personally and professionally.

Beholding these beautiful memories and experiences of a lifetime and looking forward to a new venture, Lydia signs off. However as the show must go on..with all your marketing efforts for your business in place, it’s a good idea to have an all-in-one payment solution in place as well. Now to enjoy the best payment gateway experience and grow your business effortlessly!

Black or white? Heart or mind? Sweet or sour? Sugar or salt? These are the normal life question we succumb to quite often. However, these questions or their answers won’t directly affect your Rs. 1 lakh business but, creating and launching a right product will! Thus, A/B testing your product is essential and doing it the correct way is all the more essential. So, what is A/B testing all about and how it works? Read on to know more and explore your product’s or service’s true potential.

ab testing

What Is A/B Testing?

Basically, A/B testing also known as ‘split testing’ is comparing 2 different versions of the same product or service. The one which is more suited or the winner, is pushed ahead for the launch.

However, there is more to “how to do A/B testing the right way”. Get well versed with the mini “how to” guide below:

How To Do A/B Testing?

Before we explore the 5 elements of how A/B testing is done, here’s a relevant example to simplify your understanding:

Let’s consider an example of Gaurang, an online business owner. He wants to launch a new product in the market. He has 2 different versions of the same product and he is puzzled as to which one is the best for this audience. Here’s what Gaurang or you or any business should do in order to attain absolute clarity:

  1. Draft 2 beautiful and separate product launch alert emailers
  2. Divide the existing database (full or partial) into two equal groups
  3. Use marketing tools like CleverTap or the one which provides A/B testing
  4. Send emailers at the right time (Tuesday: 3-5pm and Thursday: 10-11:30am) to the selected database (accordingly) via these tools (do not forget to add trackable links)
  5. Track real-time results. But, wait for a while as all group members will not open or click on the email at the same time
  6. After a good time span of 4-5 hours, check the collective results
  7. Now choose the one which has got the highest clicks through rates (CTR). Do not focus entirely on the Open Rate, as people open emails but hardly end up clicking on it. Also, make sure the content is strong for better CTR
  8. Now Gaurang knows/you know which product version was liked by the existing audiences. Also, being in a similar horizon, increasing new users is a definite.
  9. Launch the product!

Here’s the step-by-step guide of how A/B testing is done:

1. Before Testing, Plan It Out

Just the way Gaurang had a clear-cut goal before he set out, it is important to know the reason why you want to do A/B testing. A/B testing is to understand what works and why. Hence, it is a good idea to have all your database groups, product version, and other tools ready.

  1. Start by studying your website data and venture into problematic areas of your conversion funnel
  2. Use tools that analyze visitor’s behavior to find out why visitors are not getting converted into customers
  3. Now, with the customer insights, come up with a way to increase conversions like making the CTA button larger
  4. Also, select a good date range to collect accurate data of webpage or email performance.

2. What To Test

Some of the variants that affect the overall customer behavior (with regards to content A/B test):

  • Headline: Is it catchy and inspiring users to click?
  • Copy: It needs to be crisp, short and relative to the product, website or service being tested
  • Testimonials: People connect with people and not companies. Gather motivating testimonials of existing users for the potential users
  • Images: Are they optimized, well fitted and attractive? If yes, then you have passed this test!
  • Call to Action (CTA): A compelling CTA is the source of signups along with the above elements. Make sure your CTAs are mentioned at least 2-3 places in the entire page.
  • Links: Check if your links are trackable. Tracking makes sure that you are aware of how many people clicked and where.

Choose the variant that you want to test (for example CTA) and zero it down to what feature you want to test (Size, Color, Text or Placement).

3. Split Your Audience

The way your audience is split is based on what you are testing. If you are A/B testing emails, then you can control who your audience is. You will get an accurate result within a short period when your audience is split into two groups equally and randomly. But with a webpage, you will have to run the test for a considerable period to get an accurate result.

Pro-tip: At a time run only one A/B test. This measure will prevent confusion of which test is driving traffic or conversions.

4. Run The Test Simultaneously

Make sure you run the tests parallelly to achieve healthy comparison results. Avoid running tests separately or on separate days as the basis of comparison might not be valid ( eg: today is a good day to send emails then tomorrow)

5. Determine The Testing Period

Anything good takes time and running the test for a considerable period will give you an apt result. The time to run A/B test will vary from one organization to another, based on the number of people who are involved in it. Run any A/B test at least for a period of 2 business cycles. This is because when you stop a test in between many times you might jump to a false conclusion and thereby ruin the reason for the test.

Pro-Tip: Run your test long enough so you can actually differentiate between the two variations.

How To Measure Your A/B Test Results?

There are plenty of A/B testing tools available in the market. Some of them provide the same service for free or charge a price for the same service. Tools seem essential as they are automated, time-saving and above all instant result curating. Here are some of the best tools available in the market: Adobe Target, Google Optimizer, and Optimizely. You choose your pick and get started with your work.

Once you run the test, it’s time to read the results! Consider that your result of A/B testing is something like this: Group A gives 20% while Group B gives 23%.

  1. Before jumping to a conclusion, note that the error rate might be 5% in most cases
  2. Based on this, the conversion rate (click through rate or traffic) will be 3%
  3. Check if the new version is the product or service you provide receives a better welcome than the previous one
  4. if yes, then go ahead with it. If no, then go back to the original one. Don’t lose hope here. Going back to the older version is not giving up. Take this as an inspiration to create something more better and epic.

Common Mistakes To Avoid While A/B Testing

DO NOT make these 3 common mistakes businesses usually get trapped into:

  1. Taking decisions too quickly without running the test for the full business cycle
  2. Focusing on too many results at the same time. Before you look at the report decide on what result you want to know.
  3. Not re-testing. This might give you false results.

A/B testing has been widely used by businesses to figure out that one factor that converts a visitor to a customer. When you run this test for a considerable time, you can gather enough data to make strategic decisions. But the key to unlocking this treasure is being consistent, with proper planning and execution. Follow these steps mentioned above to successfully kickstart A/B testing today.

With all your marketing efforts for your business in place, it’s a good idea to have an all – in- one payment solution in place as well. Now enjoy the best payment gateway experience and grow your business effortlessly!

How To Improve Cash Flow: Cash Flow V/S Profit

When running a business, keeping an eye on these financial parameters: cash flow and profit is very important.

      1. Cash flow is the sum of money that is flowing in and out of a business as deposits and withdrawals, respectively.
      2. Profit, also known as net income, is the difference between sales revenue and your business expenses.

For example, you are running a highly profitable business. But some of your biggest customers are taking time (30 to 60 days) to pay. This in turn drastically affects your cash flow and even delays payments to your suppliers. No matter how profitable your business is cash flow is what keeps your business running!

cash flow

Any business can have a positive or a negative cash flow and you can easily identify to which category your business falls from the following pointers:

Positive Cash Flow

Negative Cash Flow

You start reinvesting in your business Your payroll gets affected
Your debts are cleared off You are running short of cash for daily operation
Your liquid assets start increasing You are one step away from bankruptcy

Simply focus on these 9 steps on how to improve cash flow and change the focus of your business towards a positive cash flow.

9 Simple Tips On How To Improve Cash Flow!

1. Estimate Your Cash Flow

Estimating cash flow helps in planning your future steps ahead.

    • Start forecasting your cash inflow by putting down the previous year’s sale.
    • Also include GST rebates, assets sold, license fees, and cash inflow from other sources.
    • Then forecast your cash outflow by estimating the cost taken to make goods available.
    • Do include loan repayment, investment, building rent and so on.
    • Now, estimate overall cash flow by summing up cash inflow and outflow.
    • Finally, schedule a monthly analysis of your actual data with the estimated cash flow.

Pro-Tip: Use this information to identify potential issues and take strategic decisions to improve your cash flow.

2. Best Way To Collect Unpaid Invoices

Implement easy and effective ways to collect payments from your customers on time! Some quick tips to make your invoicing process better include:

    • Sending invoices quickly
    • Using reminders to prompt your customers of the outstanding invoices.
    • Changing your terms in such a way that late payments incur penalties.
    • Offering incentives for those who pay early

Pro-Tip: Go for a plugin like “PayU Payments Plugin For MS Excel”, an all in one payments plugin. You can create and send payment links via SMS, email or both, track real-time payments and so much more. Learn more about how you can use PayU Plugin to collect payments easily.

3. Opt For Payment Platforms

Web platforms empower businesses to collect payments faster and in turn improve the cash flow. This makes collecting payments on time a cake walk. Irrespective of your online presence, you can always use a payment gateway to turn the way you collect payments easy for you. Know how to choose the best payment gateway and change the way you collect payments effortlessly.

4. Leasing Vs. Buying: Why Lease Instead

When it comes to maintaining a steady cash flow for day-to-day operations, leasing will be the best option. Leasing anything from supplies, equipment, real estate to any sort of asset, lets you pay in installments, which is a business expense anyway. Also, you can invest the extra cash on something that will benefit your business in the long run like research & development.

5. Need Quick Cash? Extend Payables

Looking for a quick way to improve cash flow? Then choose to extend payables – the money owed by a business or company to creditors, lenders, employees, or government (taxes).

This might not be a preferred option, but in a financial crunch, it is an easy way to improve cash flow. For this, maintaining a friendly relationship with your suppliers is a must. So, you can ask suppliers for a 30-day or 60-day extension. Also, make sure you extend the payables time in your terms as well, which gives you enough cash to make any large payments.

steady cash flow

6. Cut Cost & Improve Cash Flow

Figure out the unnecessary costs of your business, like operating, overhead costs and so on and get down to business. Some simple yet effective everyday tips are:

    • Opt for energy saving lights, turn off unused electrical equipment, and so on to reduce your electricity bill.
    • Keep your travel expenses in check by using tele- or video conference instead.
    • Change your shipping policies to ensure your employees use normal shipping instead of express shipping!

7. Check Inventory From Time To Time

If a large amount of money is stuck in your unsold stock then take necessary steps to maintain a steady cash flow.

    • Review your complete list of inventories like property, goods in stock, etc. regularly
    • Order less stock from suppliers when you have a surplus
    • Encourage your customers to buy old stock by offering discounts

8. Choose Steady Growth Plans

Growing too fast might be one reason your company is running out of cash. This so-called investment can sweep away your cash reserves until you receive cash from sales. Also, before you borrow money for funds, opt for sources that offer money at lower interest.  A steady growth plan is a healthy way to improve your cash flow.

9. Make Wise Investments

Now that you know how to improve cash flow, choose to invest your cash inflow by:

    • Repaying your loan obligations, without incurring penalties
    • Investing in ways that increase your sales
    • Opening a high-interest savings account, which can be reinvested in your business

How To Improve Cash Flow On Sales Front As Well

In addition to these 9 simple tips, here are 3 ways to improve cash flow and drive sales for your business:

1. Use Smart Strategy: Bundle Products

Providing discounts is not the same as adding value to a product. When you bundle products along with services, you can achieve that. One great example is e-commerce companies offering free returns for dissatisfied products. This strategy increases sales by driving away the fear of buying a new product seen online. Also, read how bundling products drive sales.

Pro-Tip: Offer value to what you sell at a lesser cost to increase your selling point.

2. Generate Repeat Business

If you are running a business like the retail industry, you will know how repeated shoppers benefit you more in the longer run. You can encourage your customers to shop more by using loyalty programs, VIP cards and other offers to shoot up sales which in turn increases your cash inflow.

Pro-Tip: Offer extra stock that adds value as freebies, to make shoppers coming for more.

3. Pre-Sell To Sell Off

Pre-Sell is an effective way for any business to promote their product even before it is launched and sell it to customers. This method saves your time and improves cash flow, as at least a part of the payment is collected even before the product is packed.  When you pitch the product you can use terms like ‘a wise way for you to plan your future by shopping now’ or so on.

Pro-Tip: Offer to buy back old products at a fixed price to encourage sales.

Keeping your cash flowing requires discipline, planning and more than anything proper strategies such as the 9 simple ways from your end. Now with the knowledge of how to improve cash flow, you need to make every effort to keep cash flowing as it is the life blood of your business.

With all your marketing efforts for your business in place, it’s a good idea to have an all-in-one payment solution in place as well. Now to enjoy the best payment gateway experience and grow your business effortlessly!

Finalising wedding spaces, vendors, boutiques, movie tickets, best service providers and much more, the “check the review first” bug has bitten us hard. History states 70% of customers rely on online reviews to make any product purchase in the modern age.  Online reviews worked for Rohan, an upcoming event management specialist. For his first project: a big-fat-Indian wedding, Rohan, and his team were flooded with appreciation and their business cards were all sold out! The guests were so impressed by the decor and arrangements, that they went on social media, Google, and other online spaces to write testimonials about the wedding.  Soon, Rohan’s calendar was full of events and less time to breathe! This is the power and importance of customer feedback, reviews, and appreciation.

Online customer feedback is the ultimate marketing tool, which can either make or break your business! In this blog, we will focus on the importance of customer feedback and how it helps shoot up your sales almost instantly.

Importance Of Customer Feedback

why are customer reviews important

Best Ways To Collect Customer Feedback

A satisfied consumer is the best person to share your success stories!

Experts say that to be exclusive, be inclusive. So, when customers or buyers are asked to pour in their feedback or reviews for your service or products they feel highly valued and inclusive. This sense of inclusion engraves deep trust and loyalty in the customers in the long run. There are multiple ways to include customers in your business growth at several stages.

Pro-tip: The best mix is that of traditional and modern ways!

importance of customer feedback

A) Traditional Ways

1Phone calls

Remember the days when your landline would ring and a lady from a telecom service provider or leading brands like AquaGuard would ask a few questions about their services and products? It still happens and it still works! Making phone calls to customers is a good business practice as it brings you up and personal with them. Listening to your customers keenly makes you aware of their tone, gives a fair idea about their happiness or resentment with the product and also lets you build a rapport with them.

However, there are a few guidelines to keep in mind while making use of this tradition:

  • Best timings: 08:00 am – 09:00 am and 04:00 pm – 05:00 pm
  • Best days: Wednesdays and Thursdays

  • Best duration: 5 mins minimum and 12 mins maximum

It is absolutely alright that your customers do not answer your call, slam the phone down or show less interest in your call. You need to be persistent and patient with them. The latest research suggests that making 6 calls to your customers over a span of 90 days is healthy.

2. Emailers

The most commonly used method of getting online customer feedbacks are “Detailed surveys”. 86% of professionals prefer emails for business communications and 89% marketers use emails as a primary channel for lead generation. A perfect emailer is the one which has:

  • Best and catchy subject lines: Eg: Take our survey & win prizes, We want to hear your thoughts?, Have something to say? Say it here, etc.
  • To-the-point body content: For surveys, avoid spending space on introducing your company or being too wordy about the topic. Get to the point swiftly.
  • Highly interactive and engaging surveys: Ask a maximum of 10 best questions which are both open-ended (eg: rate on the scale of 1-5) and closed-ended (eg: what more do you expect from our service?).

3. Couriers/Post

You might wonder that in 2018 why anyone would use couriers or posts or mails for customer feedback leaving online surveys aside?! Prestigious and legacy brands make use of couriers to maintain their tradition, exclusivity, and personalization. Just like phone calls, sending survey couriers to customers make them feel more inclusive and highly valued. One drawback of this particular way is, it involves cost and time investment from both ends: your end and your customers end.

b) Modern Ways

1. Website Survey Form & Feedback Form

Typically a website survey form is a detailed and very detailed piece of design specially crafted to peep inside the minds of customers. In a website survey form, you can include the overall experience instead of just interrogating about a particular product feature before or after launching it. Usually,  websites redirect customers to another landing page comprising of a survey form.

Quick Takeaways:

  • Ask 5-10 questions only in website survey form to avoid customers fleeing away or increase in bounce rates
  • Optimize your website with less load time. Make sure it is mobile savvy as well
  • Test your forms before you make them live

Customer feedback via feedback forms is well structured and precise than website survey forms. The questions are mainly close-ended, which makes it quick to answer. They could be in the form of pop-up, a static feedback form at the bottom of the website in the sidebar or in individual product or service pages. CleverTap, Survey Monkey, Mailchimp are useful tools to create and run web-survey forms.

This enables you to understand what you can achieve with the created content &  makes it easy to measure success. Example: if your distribution plan says you have to get at least 15,000 people to your blog in the month of April, then setting daily goals and measuring your distribution efforts makes all the sense in the world.
  2. Researchthe best-suited target audience, online markets and SEO driven words to accomplish your goals.
  3. Brainstorming For IdeasLet creative ideas and concepts flow free like a river. In the brainstorming session, your only aim is to lay a strategy to accomplish your goals.
  4. Choose Content TypeBased on the above steps, you choose the best type of content for your blog, website, etc. Example: If you know that a blog will make all the difference to your online presence then set up a blog for your business. Similarly, choose a combination of content options available in abundance today – social media post, videos, infographics, podcasts and more. This choice makes your content distribution strategy a cake walk.

These steps have great depth and importance to them. Explore all the steps in detail and plan the most effective content marketing strategy for your business now.

#2: Ma’king‘ Of The Content

Before you start implementing your content distribution strategy, make sure that your content is well researched, structured and worded. It is figured that in this ocean of content, nearly 2 million plus blog posts are getting published every single day. That means a lot of competition and that you need to be different from all these 3.99 million bloggers. Listed below are some key points which will help you create the difference:

  • What’s The Need?: Identify what the readers really want to read. If they want to read about apples you cannot offer them oranges. You can identify this need in various ways. One of the most popular and time-saving ways is: conducting online polls on portals such as Facebook, Twitter and more. Ask your followers and likers to actively participate in these polls and share their valuable feedback. This, in turn, will help you churn the best and benefitting content for your readers.
  • Write With A Flow: Just like in this blog post, you clearly know that it is addressing the content distribution strategy right from the beginning. Similarly, you need to be clear about your message and purpose of writing a particular piece of content. This clarity will help your lost readers find you and stay glued to you for long and forever too!
  • Weave Your Content Into A Story: In continuation to the previous point, along with writing with a flow, you need to also weave a story around your topic. Sangeetha’s example above was crucial to make you understand the context of content creation and distribution. This made it clear that creating is good but distributing it is the hero.

The first two steps are enough for creating a masterpiece content, now let’s shift our focus to be starstruck by the queen: “distribution”.

#3The Content Distribution Channels

Refer to the Pareto principle or 80/20 rule stated and explained above to understand the importance of having content distribution strategy in your content marketing plan. Shown below are some of the channels you can make use of to distribute your content online.

Note: These channels may vary from business to business and need to need. Not necessary all channels will be advantageous for your business.

What Do These Channels Signify?

1. Organic Content Distribution Channels

It simply means driving traffic to your content without paying a penny. Organic channels drive traffic without the need to spend on advertising. These are very effective in the long run. At first a lot of hard work goes in, but later on, it’s all about reaping the benefits. The key is perseverance!

2. Paid Content Distribution Channels

Unlike organic content distribution strategy, to drive traffic to your content immediately, you have to spend some money. This is called ‘paid advertising’. One of the easiest and popular ways to advertise your content in order to gather new customers is through Facebook ads. It’s been decades since Facebook’s existence, but still, the social media channel lives strong and long.  Find out more on How to Drive Online Sales Through Facebook?

Recommended Distribution Channels

There are no hard and fast rules to identify content distribution channels ideal for your business. What might work for one business might not work for the other, but there are some common channels, which every business can make use of.

  • Google Ping: is a free online tool that helps you ping or notify the search engines that your blog and websites have been updated. Now, search engines will recrawl your website and help in bringing your content organically to the top searches.
  • Reddit: is one great way to stay connected to your audience. This is only when you post quality content and not spams! Then, your content will be listed on quality content sharing sites.

At first, you might find the channel a bit difficult to navigate, but once you get a hang of it, you’ll enjoy being a Redditer. Also, note that Reddit is a great channel to increase your blog’s ranking as well as indexing your blog!

  • Facebook: is one of the top marketing channels. A recent study projects that, Facebook drives more traffic than other social networks at present. The key to content distribution strategy on Facebook is to bring brand awareness to your followers by keeping them engaged. Only then your post will get more likes, comments, shares as well as more blog traffic.
  • LinkedIn & Email Marketing: LinkedIn is a social networking platform for professionals that can be easily tapped to connect with contacts relevant to your field. Target your readers by sharing a blog publicly, with your connections, groups, or to specific people.

Another important marketing channel is Email Marketing, which is the most effective of all marketing channel. Properly segment your audience so you share only content they find interesting.

#4: Republish Content

[bctt tweet=”Did you know you can republish your content into other forms on Medium and LinkedIn?   ” username=””]

This gives you access to millions of readers who might become your potential leads. Many major brands post their content regularly on Medium.

Pro-tip: Drive traffic to your blog from Medium by adding a link in your republished post to your original blog post.

The same can be followed on LinkedIn as well. Start by giving a summary of your blog on LinkedIn post and re-direct your audience by providing a link to the original blog post

#5Repurpose Content

Providing the right content, the wrong way does not drive traffic to your blog either.  Always take efforts to make maximum use of the content you create. The blog can be repurposed into popular ways that will keep your customers engaged. Repurpose, Reuse, and Repeat should be your motto!

Some great ways to repurpose your blog post are:

  • Audio: Turn the blog into an audio book and post it for free on podcast platforms like SoundCloud
  • Video: Convert the blog into beautiful video and distribute on platforms like YouTube, Facebook, and other social media platforms
  • Infographic: Did you know infographics are 3 times more likely to be shared on social media compared to others? you can make use of Pinterest for infographic distribution as well.
  • Gif: Convert a complex process into a Gif to make it easy for your audience to understand
  • Ebooks: Convert 2-3 blogs into one informative ebook & give away for free once your audience subscribe to your blog

These are some simple and cost-effective ways to repurpose your blog and shoot up your blog traffic. Also, check our pages on the following platforms to get a better idea PayUmoney Medium Publication, PayUmoney SoundCloud Stream, PayUmoney YouTube Channel, and PayUmoney Pinterest Page.

#6: Schedule And Distribute Content

Scheduling post and distributing content go hand in hand. If you do not schedule your post, you will find it hard to distribute the content effectively! And, distributing the content to the right audience will help you boost your blog traffic.

1. Schedule Posts For Distribution On Social Media

Distributing your content in Social Media at the right time has its own perks. Reaching out to your audience this way will need prior planning, scheduling and of course a distribution calendar.

Benefits Of A Scheduled Post:

  • Reach audience at the right time, especially when they are active online to get the maximum engagement.
  • Schedule post in advance to save time and reduce stress.
  • Connect with followers in real-time by scheduling your post.

With online social media marketing tools, you can schedule the content you want to post online at the right time and even for a month from now.

2. Distribute Your Content (The Queen)

There are tools to help you with distributing content, but you will not have tools for every platform. In that case, you will have to take some efforts to distribute the blog and the repurposed content manually. True, it will take time and a lot of effort from your end. But when you are consistent, you will reap the benefits!

The last but important step you must take in this content distribution strategy and that is:

#7: The Analytics

Measure the reach of the content you shared (distributed) to know where you stand. From this, you will come to know whether your content distribution strategy is working or not and how it can be improved. You will have to keep a tab of the comments, likes and shares you received for your blog on different distribution channels manually. Also, make sure you respond to all of that. This will not only keep your audience engaged but also show them that you care.

You can use tools like Google Analytics to measure your blog traffic real time and even know when and how you get traffic.  Swiftly go through “How To Measure Your Blog Performance The Right Way” to know how to use analytics in detail.

Creating quality content and distributing it across multiple platforms is not a small ordeal. Set your time according to the 80/20 rule. With an effective plan, a content distribution strategy and a persevering spirit your blog can reach a larger audience and convert them into your customers.

    1. Nitro Identifies who your customers are
    1. Automatically logs them in safely
    1. Takes customers directly to their saved cards & wallets
  1. Brings about a faster transaction and higher success rate

Please note: Nitro is only available for cards that require 2-factor authentication (2FA) and not for International cards.

3. Displays Most Used Payment Method First

When a customer is on the payment page and is about to make payment, our in-house algorithm, Payment Mode Intelligence arranges payment options in the order of his/her past usage. So, the payment mode most relevant to the customer is placed first.

Say, for example, your regular customer Rahul prefers using UPI as his payment option. When he returns to your website to purchase a new product, Payment Mode Intelligence arranges UPI as the first payment option based on the frequency of his usage. This makes it very easy for the customer to complete the payment!

4. Retry Payments Seamlessly

According to our internal metrics around 15% transactions fail at the bank or 3D secure page. In that case, consumers will have to restart the entire checkout process.

Even if there is a system or network error, your customers can retry seamlessly and land back on the payment page, with their details filled in.

This is possible with the advanced caching technology that temporarily caches (saves) your customer data so they can re-initiate payment from where they left.

5. Easy & One-time Integration

Choose this for an easy to integrate payment checkout. All you have to do is to add few lines of JavaScript code from your end once and for all! Then, we will take care of the rest of the complexities in the integration. When there is any new update, like an enhancement or a new payment method option, it will get updated automatically on the day it is launched.

6. All Payment Options Supported

Now, your customers can choose to pay from any of their preferred payment option like Credit Cards, Debit Cards, Net Banking, PhonePe Wallet, EMI, LazyPay, UPI & more.
